Year 1 - 2nd half of Summer term

Year 1 - 2nd half of Summer term

We cannot believe that another year is over, and what a year it has been!   We have been overwhelmed with the children’s resilience and how well they have adapted to all the changes throughout the year.   This term has been as busy as ever.  We have learnt about the different plants that grow around us and planted our own seeds and observed them grow (some more successful than others).

We have also been busy being creative.  We made clay coil pots and learnt how to attach pieces of clay.  We then painted our pots with bright colours.

We also looked at making a moving picture.  We used sliders to make objects go up and down and from side to side.

Lots of fun times were had too.  We had Around the World week where each class learned about a different country.  We learnt a variety of things such as what food people like to eat, what traditional art comes from that country and what physical and human features are found there.

We also enjoyed Holiday Day where all the children went on a pretend holiday to Spain.  The children made Tapas and learnt about the famous artist Picasso.

We hope the children have had much fun as all the teaching staff this year.  We are going to miss all the children so much but look forward to seeing them around the school next year.  Have a lovely summer.

All the best, Year 1 team
