Year 2 update on Autumn 1

Year 2 update on Autumn 1

What a busy half term it has been!  We were so pleased to welcome the children back after the summer and have been really happy with how they have settled and how hard they have been working.

The children enjoyed designing their happiness bags and bringing in things from home to keep in them.  It was helpful to share our experiences of lockdown and put them into a time capsule which has now been buried on the school grounds.

Highlights of this half term include making the Bug Hotels, making bird pud, Poetry Week and our Savannah art work.

The children particularly enjoyed their poetry week which included writing and reciting their own poems.  These have been shared on Tapestry for you all to see!

It was great to finally talk to you at our first virtual Parents Consultations.  We are missing being able to speak to parents at the door.  Please do use Tapestry to ask us any questions or to share your child’s learning at home with us.

Next half term our topic is the Great Fire of London.  You will receive the Autumn 2 newsletter during the first week back which will let you know about all the fun learning your child will be taking part in.  Please also remember that next half term your child will be taking the Phonics Screening Check which was cancelled in June 2020.  The results will be shared with you in the Spring term.

Thank you for all your support.  We hope you have a lovely half term.
