Nursery Reading Parent Workshop presentation - January 2022
This is a video of Mrs Davies, our reading lead with essential information on how to read a decodable book with a child on a one to one basis. It covers decoding words, pronouncing phonemes correctly, segmenting, blending and tricky words. It also gives tips on how to encourage children to read with prosody, which means reading fluently with expression. Finally it covers how to talk to children about the book, ask questions and build comprehension skills. It is aimed at parents, Beanstalk Readers and parent helpers.

How to use Tapestry / Google Classroom for Home Learning
To help you with the home learning, we have created a short video to show you how to use Tapestry (if your child is in Nursery or Reception) or Google Classroom (if you child is in Year 1 or Year 2). The video covers how to see what home learning has been set by your teachers, how to upload your child's completed work and also how to write / reply to comments from your teacher.

How to use Google Classroom for Home Learning
Here are a few important reminders:
> If you have any problems logging on to either Tapestry or Google Classroom, please email the school office at admin@burlingtoni.org.uk
> The school is asking you to please upload any work on the day it is completed - there is no need to wait till the end of the week before uploading. The video shows you how to resubmit additional work for the following day.
> If your child is in Year 1 or Year 2, and you are using Google Classroom for your home learning, please ensure you upload your work to the 'week overview' folder / assignment.
Tapestry: How to
At Burlington Infant and Nursery School, we use Tapestry to record the children's learning. To help you learn how to set Tapestry up and use it, we've created a short video.
