WWF week

WWF week

We had a very interesting and extremely busy World Wildlife Fund Week.

Each of our Year 2 classes chose an animal that is endangered and then found out all that they could about the animal and the reasons that it was endangered. The animals of choice were blue whale, jaguar, Asian elephant and gorilla. Through a whole school 'virtual' assembly on Friday, Year 2 children, including some from Eco Council, read a persuasive text in an effort to convince the other classes to vote to adopt their animal of choice. They did the most fantastic job!  The children heard about how pollution, habitat destruction and poaching are impacting on these animals. They also heard about the many ways in which changes can be made to improve the situation for wildlife.

The jaguar received the most votes and is the animal that the school will be adopting!

Classes also built a class bubble copper mile using the donations that had been brought into school.
